HS2 worker death prompts call for joint probe as union says ‘facts must be established’

The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford as well as fire, police and ambulance crews were called to the HS2 construction site off Middle Bickenhill Lane in Marston Green after a man suffered serious injuries and later died

Union chiefs have called for a joint probe to be carried out after a HS2 worker was tragically killed. The man, in his seventies, was involved in what has been described as an “industrial accident”.

Emergency services raced to Middle Bickenhill Lane in Marston Green shortly after 4pm on Thursday (April 27). Despite their best efforts, he later died in hospital.

Now, construction union Unite has demanded to be involved in a “full joint investigation” following the Solihull incident. Unite national officer for construction Jerry Swain said it was vital that facts were established.
