NPORS N038 High Pressure Water Jetting Course Aims
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook and be familiar with sources of information risk assessment and SSoW and any relevant legislation (permit requirements)
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain the functions
- Be able to locate and identify the key controls and their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with the manufacturers and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for high pressure water jetting
- Select suitable type of equipment relative to the work being undertaken
- Conduct all safety checks at the work area. Set up and route equipment including exclusion zone
- Establish correct method of communication with pump operator and safety person
- Prepare the machine for use and operate safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transportation of equipment
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
- Remove exclusion zone
- Sign off permits to work and lock down procedures
- To present an insight into fire regulations and general fire precautions, providing you with the knowledge to be become a fire marshal.
