CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme – Refresher (SMSTS-R)

The CITB SMSTS Refresher training covers updates to legislation, regulations and industry best practice, including:

• Current HSE priorities and focus areas
• Risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Writing and reviewing method statements
• CDM regulations – roles and responsibilities
• Construction health, safety and welfare (CDM part 2)
• RIDDOR – Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations

Overview of legislation updates, including:

• Work at Height Regulations
• Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
• Control of Vibration at Work Regulations
• Control of Noise at Work Regulations
• Fire Safety on Construction Sites (including Fire Safety Order)Construction Waste and Site Waste Management Requirements

Learning Outcomes

Those needing to renew their valid SMSTS certificate will complete the CITB SMSTS Refresher course and gain a full understanding of the updated and current legislation concerning health and safety on construction sites and related welfare and environmental issues.

Certification

Passing the SMSTS-R course will extend your certificate for an additional 5 years, and you’ll stay qualified as a site manager in construction and other related projects.

Course Duration

The CITB SMSTS Refresher course takes place over 2 days at one of our training centres, located in the West Midlands and Warrington.

Course Requirements

• Delegates must provide a valid in-date SMSTS certificate (within the last 5 years).
• All attendees must bring photographic ID.
• Delegates should bring their own lunch. Tea and coffee facilities may be available on site.

Examination Board

The CITB SMSTS Refresher is part of the CITB Site Safety Plus scheme and is fully accredited by Construction Skills, which means it meets recognised industry standards for training and competence.

Assessment

• Delegates will be provided with the refresher training byour accredited instructors who blend a mix of theory and practical sessions over the 2-day course. The CITB SMSTS Refresher course includes:
• Continuous assessment throughout the course.
• Final multiple-choice test at the end of the course.        
• Successful delegates will be issued a renewed SMSTS certificate, valid for 5 years.
