A09 Forward Tipping Dumper CPCS Training Course

Through a combination of targeted training and experience, an individual with the forward tipping dumper will be able to:

• Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator. 
• Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology. 
• Confirm with Manufacturer’s requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and the relevant regulations and legislation. 
• Undertake all pre-use checks. 
• Configure and ready for travel (site and highway).  
• Travel over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level surfaces – loaded and unloaded. 
• Manoeuvre in confined spaces whilst carrying loads. 
• Ensure the suitability of the tipping and loading area.
• Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services.
• Position to receive loads. 
• Comply with loading procedures.
• Ensure Loading integrity and security. 
• Transfer loads to different locations. 
• Discharge loads into trenches and over edges.
• Maintain safe and tidy working areas.
• Carry out shut down and securing procedures.
• Explain loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting. 

Course Requirements

• All visitors must report to reception on arrival and follow site safety rules at all times.
• There are no catering facilities on site — delegates must provide their own lunch. Tea and coffee facilities are available.
• Candidates must bring and wear their PPE on site for plant testing.
• Candidates must bring both signature and photographic identification as required for all testing.
• The CPCS Theory Test is recorded digitally to ensure compliance with CPCS Standards.
• The CPCS Practical Test may be recorded on video if requested by CPCS.
• All delegates must have passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety & Environment (H,S&E) Test within the last two years to book on this dumper driver course.

Examination Board

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is recognised by the UK Contractors Group (UKCG) and the Major Home Builders Group (MHBG) as the preferred card for compliance with codes of practice for competence and certification.

Launched in 2003 to meet industry regulations and requirements, CPCS applies common standards for all plant operators.

Assessment

To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, candidates must pass both the CPCS Theory Test and the Practical Test.

Refresher / Re-qualification Information

• The Red CPCS Trained Operator Card is valid for 2 years.
• Within this time, candidates must complete their NVQ in Plant Operations to upgrade to the Blue CPCS Competence Card.
